Fuori Salone

Continuing its commitment to the development of trade in and appreciation for Italian design Euroluce took an active role as partner of the Sydney Italian Festival 2007 held in June. The Euroluce aim is always to promote diverse connections and to create inspirational conversations about the possibilities of design in both a local and global context. To emphasise this commitment to an international discourse Euroluce invited two of the worlds most prominent and prolific contemporary product designers to visit Australia as keynote guests of the Festival.

BID

Euroluce continuing our productive collaboration with Bisazza decided to create a counterintuitive set to inspire the design marketplace in Brisbane for our second major launch in the city of sunshine. The brief we set ourselves was to convert a dirty empty warehouse space into a simple, rational yet spectacular source of inspiration for this single day event. With the mind set of elegance by simplicity our art direction team worked from the simple principle of an idea – relying on the fact that ideas underpin the creative process across design disciplines and as such ideas are the currency of creativity – a common language for all.

RAW

Euroluce was proud to be a part of the exclusive RAW Retail Walk event in mid March 07 – presented by Poster Magazine as part of the cultural program of the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Week. This year, the under the theme of ‘Personal’ Euroluce continued its Melbourne artists collaboration by working with David McDonald of Side Project to present a precariously balancing assemblage of found objects – a mixed media installation sculpture set to stimulate some reconsideration of everyday objects, ubiquity and the value of basic materials – like bricks, planks of wood and buckets.

A Sparkling Night

One October night an empty warehouse on the fringe of Brisbane was brought to life by an event of light; Spark. With a desire to “promote the excellent design potential” of Queen Land designers, and “facilitate cross-pollination among creative thinkers”, Alex Lotersztain and Surya Graf invited 12 QLD designers from diverse fields to each create a sculpture of light. Sponsored by Indesign Magazine, Bisazza Mosaico, and Euroluce Lighting, the event drew over 500 guests from from QLD and interstate. The glow-in-the-dark floor, dancers getting jiggy-with-it, suspended luminaires, mirrored screens lit with LEDs, pools of floating mirror-balls, flowing champagne and beer, and a giant glisten disco ball, all brought a Sparkle, that October night...Siobhan McNabb
